Things are looking rosy for Filipino boy band ALAMAT. This follows a year of uncertainty for the members and the Magiliws (their fans) alike. Their self-written track “Champorado,” which they’d announced as a part of their sophomore album Destino back in December 2024, was even rejected by their label Viva Records. Destino is now enjoying commercial success, however, proving that you can always come back stronger.
On 21 November, Destino claimed the number two spot on iTunes Philippines’ Top Albums chart. Five of the album’s tracks also simultaneously charted on Top Songs, on the same day: disco ditty “Hiraya”; the UK garage song “Don’t Wanna Dance”; R&B/soul ballad “Pangako (Sa Puso Mo)”; smooth R&B bop “Pagbigyan (Bad Decisions)”; and multilingual banger “LuzViMinda.”
As of writing (23 November, 10:11 PM GMT), the album has not budged at all, remaining at number two (below BINI’s F.L.A.M.E.S.). Meanwhile, “LuzViMinda” is the only Destino track still on the Top Songs chart, standing at number 36. Its peak was number 15 on 7 November.
Destino‘s lead single, “LuzViMinda,” also landed the number one spot on iTunes Indonesia’s Top Songs chart in the week of 10 November. On March 27, 2024, ALAMAT was the first P-Pop act to top the Indonesian chart with their single “Dayang,” which reached number one as well.
Promotion has been in full force for the album, as it deserves. The group performed the full album live for the first time at the Backyard Warehouse Studio in Quezon City, Philippines on 23 November.
26-year-old Mu, a Magiliw who attended the event, tells &ASIAN that ALAMAT are “the most stable and confident they’ve ever been!” She adds, “As a longtime fan, it’s clear how proud they are of their output. […] They own this album, the stage, and I’m excited to see how they’ll keep growing.”
On 24 November, the group is also set to perform songs from Destino at the famed Wish Bus, which will be rolling into the Riverbanks North Triangle in Marikina City for ALAMAT’s set. On 26 November, the group will also be releasing their R&B love song “Hapag” as their next digital single, alongside its music video. The video for “LuzViMinda” teased it in its opening scene, where the TV in the background shows neon red-tinted clips from “Hapag.”
Destino is out now on all streaming platforms. You can find ALAMAT on Instagram.
