The Thursday sunshine was out in force for a calm, special evening featuring film composer extraordinaire Michael Giacchino as he announced the Global Premiere of the music suite from the upcoming film Fantastic Four: First Steps. Featuring a special cameo by the cast all the way from the blue carpet, Giacchino kicked off the evening with aplomb.

As one of the most prolific film composers in Hollywood, it was fantastic to see him herald the calm, positive atmosphere of the evening with some truly special music, and fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were surely thrilled to have their evening begin with the iconic MCU theme tune, as performed by the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra.

All Thinga Orchestral is a beautiful part of the BST Hyde Park lineup, bring people from all walks of life over to the park to listen to some of the most iconic orchestral music ever composed. Presented by mainstay Myleene Klass, she kept the atmosphere breezy with anecdotes about the music and the composers behind the pieces, a boon for the many families bringing their children for their earliest memories of a music concert.

Fans were treated to many classics and crowd favorits, such such as Elgar’s Nimrod and Shostakovich’s Sabre Dance whilst fans of the Harry Potter series were treated to a rendition of the famous theme tune as written by John Williams. A sojourn into Star Wars didn’t hurt either, and a mini-interview with Giacchino at the end of the night led into a treat as he introduced music from the very first film he scored: The Incredibles.

Other highlights also included a haunting rendition of Fanfare for The Common Man, string duo FIRL playing their version of Debussy’s Clair De Lune, and baritone Ben Appl bringing a sense of peace and calm to an already uplifted Hyde Park.

It’s easy to see why All Things Orchestral has now become a terribly popular fixture in the now three years since it has been part of the BST Hyde Park line up, and as the sun went down on a fantastic evening of classical music, it will surely run for many more years to come.

Tickets and more info about the rest of BST Hyde Park, running on select dates until the 12th of July, can be found here.
