HITGS: Here To Hit You With Heart

Hello! Congratulations on your debut!

To kick things off, can you each introduce yourselves with your name, star sign, MBTI and your favourite animal?

Seojin: Star sign: Aries, MBTI: ESTP, favorite animal: puppy.

Seohee: Star sign: Taurus, MBTI: ESFJ, favorite animal: puppy.

Hyerin: Star sign: Sagittarius, MBTI: ISTP, favorite animal: puppy.

Iyoo: Star sign: Aries, MBTI: ENFJ, favorite animal: puppy.

VV: Star sign: Gemini, MBTI: ISFP, favorite animal: puppy.

Your debut single album has such a fresh, perfect-for-summer sound. Out of the two songs, which are each of your favourites and why?

VV: “SOURPATCH”. It fits the current season so well, and every time I listen to it, it puts me in a great mood. That’s why I chose it.

Seojin: “Never Be Me”. The melody is super catchy, and the lyrics are really charming: it’s one of those songs that just sticks in your head, which is why I love it.

Seohee: My favorite song is “Never Be Me”. I was drawn to its bold vibe, the sleek melody line, and especially the explosive feeling in the latter part of the song.

Hyerin: “SOURPATCH”. I love the bouncy drum beat and the kitschy melody—it really stands out. I also think it suits our group’s energy well, and it matches the current weather perfectly.

IYOO: “SOURPATCH”. When I watched the music video, the other members said my part was their favorite, which made me love it even more. Plus, I have a lot of favorite parts in this song.

VV, you are pursuing your dreams far from your home in China.

What made you determined to go to South Korea to pursue your dreams, and what have you learned the most during your time here?

VV: I came to Korea with a dream of becoming an idol. Starting something new in a completely different environment, surrounded by new people, helped me become someone who’s not afraid of new challenges. I think that experience shaped me – and made me more ready for everything I’ll go through as a member of HITGS.

Seojin, what skills are you most excited to show new listeners and fans upon your debut and what song did you enjoy performing most when you were a trainee?

Seojin: One of my strengths is my pretty side profile. And my pick is “UNFORGIVEN” by LE SSERAFIM sunbaenim.

Seohee, being a idol must feel so different from your background in gymnastics.

What experiences from gymnastics have you found useful in being an idol now, and have you tried teaching any of the other members some of your gymnastics skills?

Seohee: Since I did rhythmic gymnastics from a young age, I got used to using my body and performing in front of people at competitions. Being comfortable on stage helped ease my nerves, and that allowed me to show more of what I practiced – so I could enjoy the moment more fully while dancing and singing.

Hyerin, as the first member revealed it must have been so exciting seeing all the responses before anyone else!

Are any comments particularly memorable, and what were the responses from your family and friends?

Hyerin: The most memorable comment for me was one that said they were really looking forward to our first reveal. It made me feel like I need to do even better. Also, my family and friends told me it was so cool to see my name show up when they searched it online!

Iyoo, like VV you also left your home country to pursue your dreams.

What from Japan do you miss the most, and what are you most looking forward to about your debut?

Iyoo: What I miss the most are my family and my dog. I really miss them a lot. And the thing I’m looking forward to the most is performing on music shows! I’m so curious and excited to finally stand on the stage I’ve always dreamed of.

What inspired each of you to become idols?

VV: When I watched BLACKPINK Lisa sunbaenim’s performance, I thought she was absolutely amazing. From that moment on, I wanted to become an idol too and stand on stage like her.

Seojin: I wanted to live a life that felt a bit more special, and when I saw TWICE sunbaenims performing on TV, the idol life seemed so charming and full of allure. That’s when I started dreaming of becoming an idol myself.

Seohee: After watching a fan cam of IU sunbaenim’s concert, I thought, “I want to be someone who can move people with music like that.” I’ll work hard so HITGS can become a group that truly touches hearts through our songs!

Hyerin: I saw aespa Karina sunbaenim’s stage and thought she looked incredible. As a trainee, the idea of doing this together with my members made the future feel exciting, and that made me want to become an idol even more.

Iyoo: I started dancing when I was young, and being on stage made me feel genuinely happy. I realized I wanted to share more of myself with others: that’s what made me dream of becoming an idol.

In your preparations to debut, do you each have a memorable moment of difficulty or struggle that you had to overcome?

VV: Korean was really difficult for me, but I’ve been studying hard. Even after debuting, I’m continuing to study and improve.

Seojin: There was a time when I hit a slump after practicing really hard. But I had such a strong desire to push past my limits that I trained even harder, and that helped me overcome it.

Seohee: I had an injury while preparing for our debut. It was a really anxious and tough time, but with consistent treatment and the support and encouragement from my members, I was able to get through it.

Hyerin: There were a lot of things we had to do as part of preparing for debut, and while I knew that, not being able to eat or sleep properly was probably the hardest part. Still, I kept reminding myself it was all for our debut, and that helped me push forward and practice even harder.

Iyoo: It was hard not being able to eat the things I wanted to. Also, having to project my voice loudly was something I found challenging.

When you aren’t practicing or rehearsing, what do you each like to do the most in your down time?

VV: I like writing in my journal and drawing.

Seojin: I love crafting – especially knitting or making pipe cleaner dolls. I’m also planning to try wax sealing!

Seohee: I’m happiest when I get to eat something delicious and watch my favorite dramas.

Hyerin: I love taking time to fully rest. Having time to recharge is really important to me.

Iyoo: I enjoy taking photos in beautiful places!

For our North American and European readers, do you each have a country from each continent that you’d like to perform in one day?

VV: The United States.

Seojin: The United States and Italy.

Seohee: The United States and the United Kingdom.

Hyerin: The United States and Switzerland.

Iyoo: Paris, France!

When people catch your debut performances, do you have a special moment that you’d like fans or viewers to look out for?

VV: Please make sure to notice our pretty faces! We all practiced our expressions really hard for this debut stage.

Seojin: There’s a part in the chorus where we go “ooh,” act surprised, and then fan ourselves out of shyness. It’s such a cute move with our facial expressions and gestures—I think it’s one of the highlights of the choreography.

Seohee: I hope people will focus on HITGS’s bright energy and the fresh charm of being teenagers! Our high energy and cheerful expressions will definitely lift your mood.

Hyerin: I’d love for everyone to pay attention to the lyrics. They express a teenage girl’s heart in a really fun and relatable way.

Iyoo: I’d be grateful if you paid close attention to both the lyrics and our expressions during SOURPATCH. They really capture the many emotions of teenage girls!

Do you each have a message for fans and new listeners?

VV: I hope you’ll watch me closely as I grow and show you my true self.

Seojin: We’ve shown you our lovable teenage sides and things we enjoy, but we’ll be showing you so much more – please stay with us!

Seohee: Thank you so much for loving HITGS. We’ll work even harder to return that love.

Hyerin: I hope to become closer with our fans and meet you often – let’s be together for a long time!

Iyoo: I’ll do my best, so please continue to support and love us!

Lastly, if you were in a zombie apocalypse, what would be each of your tactics to survive?

VV: I’d walk around pretending to be a zombie.

Seojin: I’d get a part-time job at a convenience store, lock all the doors, and live there with plenty of food and safety guaranteed.

Seohee: I’d hide really well and try to avoid zombies at all costs. I think that way I’d survive longer.

Hyerin: I’d eat less, sleep a lot, and stay super quiet while hiding.

Iyoo: I don’t think I could outrun them, so I’d try to find a way to get along with the zombies instead.
