Popular K-Pop girl group LE SSERAFIM descended upon London for the first time last Friday, bringing with them an electrifying celebration of music, movement and pure, unadulterated joy. As labelmates of global superstars BTS under HYBE, LE SSERAFIM inevitably arrive with enormous expectations: the sort that could easily overwhelm a girl group still cementing its own identity. But boy, did they deliver.
Comprising of Sakura, Chaewon, Yunjin, Kazuha and Eunchae, the five-piece have continued to push their musical boundaries, experimenting with new sonic styles while maintaining the upbeat energy that has become their signature style. Their newer material, including tracks such as “Come Over” and “Ash”, demonstrates an appetite for experimentation, but it was the group’s ability to transform their eclectic discography into an unstoppable live set that defined the night.
Opening with the absolute club-ready banger “CELEBRATE”, the concert launched straight into high-octane territory and barely relented save for a track or two. Something that became inescapable throughout LE SSERAFIM’s London concert is just how many enormous, crowd-pleasing anthems they’ve already accumulated. These are songs practically engineered for thousands of people dancing and chanting in unison, from “CRAZY” and “UNFORGIVIGN” to “Eve, Psyche & The Bluebeard’s Wife”.
Yet while these familiar hits naturally drew some of the evening’s most enthusiastic and rousing reactions, what made the girls’ concert particularly satisfying was their determination to offer audiences something new. Many of their older tracks had been reworked into fresh arrangements and remixes, breathing new life into tracks, making the entire concert feel like a brand new experiencerather than simply a live reproduction of a lot of what the group had done before.
All five members appeared to absolutely adore being on stage from start to finish, their enthusiasm most pronounced in their interactions with the audience.
Particularly heartwarming was a dance challenge segment in which several audience members were invited to show off their moves to LE SSERAFIM’s songs, while later one signed caps were also handed out to lucky fans. These moments of connection were among the evening’s most memorable, a clear reminder that the group’s appeal extends far beyond their choreography and earworms.
What resulted was, quite simply, a tremendous party. For casual listeners, it was surely an absolute blast: hit after hit after hit, each song seemingly taking the audience’s breath away before the next came barrelling in.
But for the devoted fan, the evening offered something more than just a bit of facetime with their favourite idols. LE SSERAFIM’s music has long resonated with listeners through its messages of confidence, resilience and self-belief.
In London, the evening became a celebration of this positivity and joy that have made these five idols so beloved, with all of us, fans and group alike, devoted to the mantras in the lyrics. As a result LE SSERAFIM created a space in which thousands of people could share in the sheer happiness of being together. If that’s not angelic to a T, what is?
