Maisie Peters, BST Hyde Park: The Songstress Cements Her Status As A Star To Watch

It means something when other artists enjoy watching your work backstage, and judging by the positive reactions of a few of the other BST Hyde Park performers watching Maisie Peters during her set, she is the kind of artist that you want to make sure you can catch if you are lucky enough to score a ticket.

Having just come off opening for one of the biggest bands in the world – Coldplay – on tour, Maisie Peters is making 2024 her moment, and the BST Hyde Park crowd were more than excited to join her on the ride. Opening the show with one of her best tracks “Coming of Age”, Peters has always possessed an ability to connect with a crowd deeply and earnestly, as though you’re watching a friend sing about her heartbreaks and tribulations.

She brought the same energy to her performance in Hyde Park, rattling through empowering anthems such as “You’re Just A Boy (And I’m Kinda The Man)” and “Lost The Breakup” from her newest album The Good Witch, as well as “Love Him I Don’t” and “John Hughes Movie” from her first LP You Signed Up For This. Fans sang along word for word and even those less familiar with her work were dancing and jamming along in the crowd.

As a popstar with a fanbase worldwide whose music is truly and unapologetically still rooted in a classic British-pop rock sound, she busted out “Mr Brightside” – possibly one of the most beloved hits by an American artist to ever be embraced on these shores – to whoops and cheers, and topped off with Peters’ own signature upbeat energy and passion.

With The Good Witch most recently hitting silver in the UK, and with fans from both outside and within the UK running to make sure they would not miss her set, Maisie Peters’ time on the Hyde Park stage was a delight, and surely she will be back at the festival very soon.
