With Ignition, their first official mini-album, NOWZ doesn’t just announce their presence, they draw a line in the sand. Formerly known as Nowadays, the group returns with a sharper name and an even sharper artistic identity. This reintroduction isn’t cautious; it’s a controlled detonation. Across five bold, genre-hopping tracks, Ignition positions NOWZ as a group unafraid to take creative risks, dig into emotional terrain, and, crucially, have something to say.

“EVERGLOW,” the lead single, is a full-throttle alt-rock anthem. It’s brash, immediate, and uncompromising, and a declaration of intent wrapped in distorted guitars and a chant-worthy hook. The track doesn’t just set the tone; it draws a roadmap for the band’s evolving sound, balancing heavy instrumental textures with gleaming pop precision.

But where “EVERGLOW” charges forward with explosive energy, the rest of Ignition reveals a more nuanced range. The EP plays like a short film about youth in motion: its turbulence, its moments of introspection, its longing to both break free and find home.

“Fly to the Youth” offers a tonal shift that lands beautifully. Built on warm harmonies, tender piano, and a gentle sense of melancholy, it’s the kind of track that plays like a breeze after a storm. There’s clarity in the lyrics: an ode to wide-eyed ambition, to growing pains, to finding peace without ever standing still.

That emotional openness gives way to “Problem Child,” a mischievous standout with teeth. Equal parts theatrical and defiant, it blends cheeky confidence with a biting edge, showcasing the group’s vocal elasticity and their emerging knack for character-driven performance.

“Louder” dials up the hip-hop elements, anchoring itself in a thick, bass-heavy beat and a rhythm-forward delivery. It’s less about melody and more about presence. There’s a deliberate brashness to it, like a track written for stadiums before the world even knows your name.

Then comes “DAY_AND,” a fitting closer that eases off the gas and allows for reflection. It’s intimate, hushed, and emotionally resonant. A slow burn that reveals a side of NOWZ that feels particularly grounded and honest.

What makes Ignition so compelling is the way it balances ambition with clarity. There’s experimentation here. Stylistic jumps, varied production, layered arrangements, but none of it feels aimless. Every track contributes to a cohesive narrative arc about transformation, restlessness, and self-definition. The group sounds young, yes, but never green.

Vocally, NOWZ already show impressive range, switching between high-impact choruses and textured, emotionally driven verses with ease. And the growing involvement of members in songwriting and lyrical contributions gives the music a level of sincerity that’s essential for longevity.

NOWZ may be a rookie act on paper, but Ignition doesn’t sound like a first step – it sounds like a group arriving fully aware of who they are and what they’re capable of. The production is bold without being overbearing. The performances are polished but still raw enough to feel real. And the message is unmistakable: this is just the beginning. Overall, this is a confident, genre-bending debut that captures the chaos and clarity of youth in motion. NOWZ isn’t chasing a trend. They’re building a lane of their own.
