Why she’s one to watch:

13 year old Sky Brown will be Team GB’s youngest ever summer Olympian this year, already a Bronze medalist from the 2019 World Skateboarding Championships and currently ranked at 3rd in the world, she is one of the favourites for gold at this year’s inaugural Skateboarding events alongside many other young athletes looking to bring the sport to new heights and inspire a whole new generation of skaters.

Trivia:

  • Born to a British father and Japanese mother, she alternates between Japan and the US for school and training, occasionally training with Tony Hawk
  • Aside from skateboarding, she is also a talented surfer along with her younger brother Ocean, and has also won on the US TV Show Dancing with the Stars: Juniors
  • This Olympics follows a year on from suffering skull fractures and a broken wrist and hand in a skateboarding accident
  • Sky Brown also has a Barbie doll created in her likeness as a part of the Barbie Dream Gap Project, which highlights female role models in sports and aims to give support and resources to remove the barriers preventing young girls from believing in themselves and pursuing their dreams.
