More than ten years after the groundbreaking sapphic series The Rich Man’s Daughter (2015), Filipino actresses Glaiza De Castro and Rhian Ramos are reuniting for the romance film I Fell, It’s Fine. On 1st March, its production company Wide International Film & Entertainment unveiled the plot, poster, and release date on their official social media accounts. It’s just in time for the start of Women’s Month.
I Fell, It’s Fine is about the aloof Anne (De Castro), the owner of the wellness resort Aromagicare. After her marriage crumbles, she meets the free-spirited Chicks (Ramos). As Anne lets her walls down and opens her heart up to Chicks, their bond undeniably deepens into love.
De Castro and Ramos are two of their generation’s most celebrated Filipino actresses. In 2019, De Castro won Best Actress at the Luna Awards, which many Filipinos perceive to be the local equivalent of the Oscars. In 2025, Ramos won Best Drama Actress at the PMPC Star Awards for Television, widely considered to be the Philippines’ version of the Emmy Awards.
Although she’s happily married to her Irish husband David Rainey in real life, De Castro hasn’t been shy about her attraction to women as well. In a PEP.ph interview from May 2018, she received the blunt question, “Tomboy ka ba?” (Are you a lesbian?) With equal candour, she replied, “Fluid ako. Bakit?” (I’m fluid. Why?)
The film is directed by the renowned Sigrid Bernardo. Just last year, her movie Angelite bagged two accolades at the San Diego Short Film Festival in the US: Best Picture and Best Foreign Language Film. She has also directed many popular sapphic movies such as 2013’s Ang Huling Cha-Cha Ni Anita (Anita’s Last Dance), after which a BINI song is named, and Rookie (2023).
I Fell, It’s Fine will be released in Philippine cinemas on 4th April.
