Lesbian Visibility Week is upon us. Many idols across the globe have shown their support for the LGBTQ+ community despite the stigma that the idol industry might have against speaking up on such topics. As a lesbian myself, it’s always nice to see idols talk about lesbians specifically. Lesbian isn’t a dirty word!
From Thai pop (T-Pop), Korean pop (K-Pop), Philippine pop (P-Pop), and anglophone pop, here are some idols who have extended public support towards the lesbian community.
Latin (former member of CGM48)
This one doesn’t just support lesbians, but is one. Latin, a former member of T-Pop girl group CGM48 (another one of J-Pop group AKB48’s sister bands), came out as a lesbian in July 2025. On her Instagram Stories, she replied to a fan who asked if she was gay or bisexual with, “100% wuhluhwuh (WLW)” and “i’m gay gurrrrrrrrl.” Born พิมพ์นารา ร่ำรวยมั่นคง (Pimnara Rumruaymunkong), she has been a CGM48 trainee since October 2019, though she didn’t officially debut until June 2025. She left the group just months later, on 3rd September.
Jao Canlas (ALAMAT)
In July 2024, an X post from a now-deactivated fan account called ALAMAT’s hit song “Maharani” (Great Queen) a lesbian-coded yearning anthem. Jao gave the lesbians his seal of approval, replying, “We luv sir @thyroalfaro [lyricist Thyro Alfaro] and lesbians“. Jao himself came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community via TikTok in June 2025, though he joked in the comments that he comes out as queer “weekly.”
Huh Yunjin and the other members of LE SSERAFIM
In a 2025 fancall, a lesbian fan called @chaewannieee (TikTok and X) told Yunjin, “I hope you understand this, but lesbians love you, man.” The Korean-American singer let out a delighted laugh and responded, “Thank you. I love you guys too,” her hands forming a heart. Later in September, the same fan gave the LE SSERAFIM members a lesbian pride flag, and the girls readily posed with it. “Lesbians still love you,” the fan told Yunjin, who responded with a grin and shaka hand gesture.
Manon Bannerman and Lara Raj (KATSEYE)
On their joint livestream in October 2025, KATSEYE’s Lara Raj clarified that she and co-member Manon Bannerman aren’t dating each other, nor have they claimed to be lesbians. However, Lara and Manon reiterated their love for lesbians: “We love lesbians. Love is love,” the two stated. Lara, an American of Tamil descent, is openly queer. Manon, a Swiss-Ghanaian, has said that she has no plans to ever publicly disclose her sexuality.
Jade Thirlwall (Little Mix)
In a March 2026 episode of the Dutch podcast De Lesbische Liga (literally The Lesbian League in English), British singer Jade Thirlwall proclaimed, “I love the lesbians.” Just don’t expect her to be able to say it in Dutch. Jade is a member of the UK’s top modern girl group Little Mix, as well as a solo act. She’s partially of West Asian descent, specifically Yemeni.
Shin Ryujin and the other members of ITZY
In April 2024, a fan held up a banner saying “LESBIANS LOVE ITZY” with a mini lesbian flag pasted. ITZY’s Ryujin read out the sign before giggling and saying, “Thank you,” giving the banner’s owner a heart gesture with her hand. The other members sent heart gestures to the lesbian fan too when they read the banner.
