BST Hyde Park: Day 4 Review, Noah Kahan & More Global Names Captivate The Capital

The UK festival continues on its country-folk roll as US star Noah Kahan and multiple UK and North American stars kicked off the second weekend of the festival.

British rising stars such as singer-songwriters Maya Lane and Jo Hill, alongside actor-singer Asha Banks rounded some off the most heartfelt newcomers that were essential must-watches to catch on Day 4, whilst big names such as Finneas and Gracie Abrams drew in huge crowds. The former brought on Ashe during his beautiful set for a special rendition of ‘Forever Falls Apart’, whilst Abrams delighted the crowd with several of her hits such as ‘That’s So True’ and ‘I Love You, I’m Sorry’.

Finally, headliner Noah Kahan took to the stage as the sun began to set over London. He is well-loved outside the USA, with “Stick Season” reaching #1 on the UK singles chart, and with his songs regularly going viral worldwide on TikTok. As soon as he took the stage, kicking off with ‘All My Love and ‘New Perspective’, the singer quickly endeared himself to the crowd when he declared his headlining set to be the biggest show of his life so far, and he did not disappoint.

The Vermont-born folk served a truly fun set to the audience, bringing on guests such as Gracie Abrams, Gigi Perez, and to great aplomb, beloved Brit Lewis Capaldi for a rendition of ‘Northern Attitude’. Kahan is a truly captivating performer, with earnest enthusiasm and emotion radiating through every single song, be it an up-tempo track or a heart-wrenching ballad. In one of the most moving moments of the festival thus far, Kahan introduced his own mother who was in the crowd, right before breaking into ‘Call Your Mom’; it’s hard not to root for an artist that seems to so keenly in tune with how far he’s has come in his career, and how special these moments with fans, his band and his family truly are.

Ending on ‘Stick Season’, and with the entirety of Hyde Park singing along, Kahan’s set proved true the saying that your new favourite artist is just around the corner, writing songs from their bedrooms as they slowly do the circuits until they make it to the biggest stages in the world. Confessional folk and country has never been more successful outside of North America than it is now, and crooners like Kahan and his peers mean there is plenty on offer out there to soothe your soul.
