On 26th June, the music video for ATEEZ’s “Bad” was released, starring American actress Chase Infiniti. She is one of Hollywood’s fastest-rising young actors right now, earning BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations in the past year, among others. But she’s winning as a fangirl too.
Many people know that the 26-year-old is an Atiny (ATEEZ fan) and had her own K-Pop dance cover group, Duple Dance Crew. Her appearance in their “Bad” music video goes beyond a mere cameo, however.
The MV starts with ATEEZ’s Seonghwa crashing Chase’s wedding to another man. Interestingly, she has eight separate rings on her finger, the same number of members in ATEEZ. More and more ATEEZ members show up, sharing cute moments with her. Her would-be husband is even revealed to be San in disguise. However, the MV takes a supernatural turn.
It’s revealed that Chase is likely the human form of Sopro, a major character in the band’s lore. Sopro is a spirit that usually appears as a red cube-shaped stone, formally introduced through the band’s December 2023 album The World EP.Fin. However, many Atinys believe that the clear cube-shaped stone that you can see in ATEEZ’s music videos all the way back in 2019 is another form of Sopro’s.
Halfway into ATEEZ’s “Bad” MV, Chase’s eyes glow red like Sopro’s colour, and so do some of the extras’. She also joins the members for the dance break, seemingly controlling them. Apparently, we’ve unlocked a new Sopro form: the gorgeous Chase Infiniti. Going from an Atiny who performed dance covers of their songs to landing a crucial role in their lore just might be one of K-Pop’s greatest fan success stories.
The music video for “Bad” is out now on YouTube. You can follow Chase Infiniti on Instagram here and ATEEZ here.
