Hyper Japan London 2025: A Celebration of Japanese Culture For All The Family

For those in the UK and beyond looking to enjoy the best Japanese culture and more, Hyper Japan is a must-see, with the three-day convention providing a spectacular array of things to do, taste and enjoy for all ages. Here are some of our top picks:

Music, music, and more music

The convention served a variety of fantastic Japanese artists for attendees to enjoy on the main stage. From marasy to KOTOMEN, Yuka Iguchi and Dariasirene, audiences were treated to some of the best up-and-coming Japanese and Japan-inspired talent.

Interactivity is the way

There were many interactive installations to be seen as well, with one highlight being the anime super cars on offer. Visitors were invited to sit inside them, and their custom sci-fi-style interiors made it a special one-of-a-kind experience. Kabuki (a form of Japanese theatre) and akido demonstrations also drew crowds, with some getting a chance to see these up-close for the very first time.

Cosplayers and Japanese fashion

For those who love their fashion, there was plenty to delight in as many showed up in cosplay or Japanese inspired fashion. It was easy to spot some of the most popular characters from top anime and manga properties as one wandered the floors, and the many beautifully embroidered kimono-style jackets and dresses made fashion spotting a blast.

Massive names in the Japanese toys, manga and anime industries

Companies like Konami, Shueisha and Bandai stood pride of place near the front of the exhibition hall as many flocked to play some gachapon, do a round or two of Yu-Gi-Oh, or stopped to read their favourite manga. Maison Ghibli, Artbox and Tofu Cute were also on hand for all who wanted to get their kawaii fix for the day, not to mention the dozens of talented artists on the floor above with their Japan inspired artpieces and other wares.

Plenty of delicious Japanese food on offer

The festival served up some tasty treats on the day, with plenty of onigiri options, to don, mochi and the famous WA Café and Patisserie making an appearance. Queues were long no matter the time of day despite there being other non-Japanese cafés open with food offerings, a testament to the vast popularity of Japanese cuisine.

Hyper Japan will be returning to London in 2026.
