Following a months-long break to prioritise her mental health, Katseye leader and Filipino member Sophia Laforteza is expected to return to group activities in the first week of January 2027.
HYBE and Geffen Records confirmed the timeline for the singer’s return, with Laforteza set to remain on hiatus for the rest of 2026.
Her continued absence means she will miss the remaining dates of Katseye’s North American leg of The Wildworld Tour, as well as the group’s end of year promotional activities.
Following the announcement, Sophia took to Instagram to thank EYEKONS, the group’s fans, for their patience and understanding as she continues to prioritise her well-being.
“Before anything else, I want to thank you for giving me your patience, grace, and understanding. Your kindness during this time has given me more strength than you know. It hasn’t been easy, but I have been putting in the work by receiving the care I need, learning the tools to better support myself, and doing everything I can to nurture my well-being“, she wrote.
The singer also reflected on what she had learnt during her time away, emphasising the importance of caring for herself as she grows both personally and professionally.
“I’ve learned so much about myself and what is truly best for my mind and body. Learning to care for myself, and continuing to do that work every day, is something I want to carry with me as I grow both as a person and as an artist. I’ve realised how much easier it can be to give to the people around you than it is to give yourself. I’m learning that I can receive from myself, too“.
Laforteza also expressed her disappointment at missing the remainder of the group’s tour this year, while acknowledging the importance of taking time away to focus on her recovery.
“It pains me deeply that I won’t be able to participate in the remainder of the tour this year. I’m going to use this time to continue training and get myself to where I need to be again. As much as I wish I could simply through, I’ve come to understand that sometimes having the courage to take a step back is what allows you to move forward“, she wrote.
Looking ahead, Sophia expressed hope of returning to group activities in better health.
Laforteza announced her temporary hiatus from KATSEYE on 7 August, saying she would focus on her health and well-being with professional guidance.
KATSEYE was formed through the reality competition The Debut: Dream Academy. The group comprises of Sophia Laforteza, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Manon Bannerman and Yoonchae Jeung.
